Additivo LP 003
Description
Additivo LP 003 is a solution of modified Polyvinyl acetate (PVAc) in monomer styrene.
It is used as a Low Profile Additive for Poliplast unsaturated polyester resins as it reduces polyester’s resin shrinkage during curing.
The anti-shrinkage properties become evident during applications that involve hot polymerization of polyester resins like for instance pultrusion and hot press mouldings.
It can be also used to modify resins requiring a considerable dimensional stability after curing (i.e. preparation of mastics for brushes or production of fibergalss moulds).
Mixtures of polyester resins and Additivo LP 003 can be thickened with suitable additives, like for instance magnesium oxide and hydroxide. Resins containing Additivo LP 003 show an opaque-white appearance after curing, therefore possible pigmentation of these mixtures is limited.
PVAc solutions act as plasticizers into polyesters; variations in thermo mechanical characteristics of final products are possible and shall be evaluated before starting any application.
