What is Spray Lay-Up Technology?

In the composite processing industry, Spray Lay-Up technology is gaining increasing relevance. This approach allows for the uniform application of resin while simultaneously reinforcing with fiberglass or carbon fiber, after it has been precisely cut. This method has become a widely used alternative to the more traditional brush and roller lamination.

In most cases, a spray gun, with one or two nozzles, sprays resin and catalyst while the cut fibers are projected and meet the resin flow at a point close to the mold.

Technical Advantages of the Spray Lay-Up Technique

  • Uniformity: This process ensures that the resin is distributed evenly across the entire surface, preventing unwanted buildups and dispersions.
  • Precise Dosage Control: It is possible to precisely control the dosage of both resin and catalyst. This level of precision is essential for achieving optimal catalysis performance.
  • Efficiency and Speed: This method allows for the rapid covering of large surface areas with resin and reinforcement, enabling the production of large components with reduced labor. The combination of uniformity, dosage control, and speed makes this technology adaptable to numerous industries.
