What is Filament Winding Tecnology?

Filament Winding, also known as winding molding, is a widely used technology in the manufacturing industry for producing hollow components such as pipes, ducts, and tanks.

The process involves depositing a resin-impregnated reinforcement onto a rotating mold or mandrel. The reinforcement typically consists of glass fiber roving or carbon fibers.

The winding process can be carried out by either rotating the mandrel while the fibers are deposited or by keeping the mold stationary and wrapping it with the impregnated fibers. This technique allows for precise fiber placement and achieves a high reinforcement content (between 60% and 75%), resulting in components with excellent mechanical strength.

Technical Advantages of the Filament Winding Technique

  • Lightweight and Strength: This process enables the production of components that are extremely lightweight while maintaining high strength.
