The durability of a fiberglass product often depends on the quality of the outer surface, which is exposed to weather conditions (solar light, heat and water), chemical agents, and potential mechanical stress.
The use of gelcoat significantly increases the lifespan of fiberglass products. Gelcoat is a surface resin layer with superior mechanical properties and resistance compared to the resin used in the main structure of the product.
This thin layer is applied directly on the mold of the product, providing greater resistance to weathering agents and anything that could cause surface deterioration, thereby extending the product’s lifespan.
Carlo Riccò & F.lli has developed a series of resins specifically dedicated to gelcoat production. These products are characterized by their ease of pigmentation, excellent osmosis resistance, and advanced mechanical capabilities.
